This will focus on the development of a new product offering for brokers within the last 12-18 months; that could include launching a new offering that fills a much-needed market gap, or an under-served niche customer segment.

Judges will be looking for examples of a combination of:

  • How the product provider has engaged with brokers and their end customers to deliver something different
  • How this was marketed to a target audience with impressive results
  • How the product has been backed up by exceptional service

Open to insurers, MGAs and wholesale brokers, individually or working in partnership

 

E-trading innovation of the Year - New for 2017

This will focus on the development of a new e-traded solution offering developed for brokers within the last 12-18 months.

Judges will be looking for examples of a combination of:

  • How the product provider has engaged with brokers and their end customers to deliver something different online
  • How this was marketed to a target audience with impressive results
  • How the e-traded innovation has been backed up by exceptional service

Open to insurers, MGAs and wholesale brokers, individually or working in partnership

 

Managing General Agent of the Year - New for 2017

Open to all UK authorised MGAs.

The judges will be looking for a company that can:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to meeting customer needs and delivering a high quality of service across all of its activities as part of a broad strategic vision.
  • A proven track record of success in terms of innovative and profitable expansion, either in existing or into new, markets.
  • A business that delivers consistent service in terms of underwriting and claims across all lines of its business. 
  • A firm that embraces its broader role in terms of embracing diversity and business sustainability as part of its overall objectives.

 

The Training Award - New for 2017


Open to any firm operating within the general insurance market.

The judges will be looking for a company that can demonstrate a combination of some or all of the following:

  • How their organisation and staff have successfully championed the development of underwriting professionalism.
  • Adoption or pursuit of chartered status as a business or by individual staff, and the spread of best practice and strong professional values throughout the business.
  • How an underwriting training programme has played an integral strategic role within the business, contributing to its success.
  • Evidence of benchmarking against external standards. Entries should also highlight how any initiatives have contributed to business success.

 

Unsung Underwriter of the Year - New for 2017


We are repeatedly told that the insurance industry's heartbeat is its people. But for every senior practitioner who is in the spotlight, there are hundreds of underwriters who go unnoticed externally but are appreciated within their own firms for their efforts in delivering projects, improving processes and keeping customers happy.

These people may not be line managers or have direct reports, but their efforts and achievements this year will have made a crucial mark on the business they work for. This award will seek to give these unsung underwriting superstars their moment in the limelight.

The judges will be looking for:

  • A clear demonstration and evidence of an individual's contribution to their team or department over the last 12 - 18 months
  • Examples of when said person went the extra distance to help a broker or end customer
  • Detail of how they have made such a difference
  • Evidence of how this person has sought to further their career through education, training or external industry participation

Open to anyone working for an insurer, broker or underwriting agency

 

Underwriting Support Provider of the Year - New for 2017


Open to any organisation providing a professional, advisory or data/technology service directly to those engaged in underwriting.

The judges will be looking for:

  • Evidence a business has responded innovatively to the demands of underwriters 
  • Evidence of consistent levels of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Evidence of enhanced business success through their relationship with underwriters.
  • Testimonials from insurer/MGA/broker partners will help validate an entry

 

Young Underwriter of the Year 

This award recognises the hard work and dedication of the young stars in the underwriting community and is open to anyone working in the insurance industry aged 30 or under on the closing date of 15 September 2017.

The judges will be looking for a person who:

  • Has made significant strides in their professional development over the past year
  • Can clearly demonstrate their contribution to the team or department in which he or she works
  • Shows evidence of commitment to pursuing relevant professional qualifications

All nominations must be made or supported by the person's departmental manager.
